Part of Le Conseil Coopératif Acadien de la N.-É.’s mandate is to help community groups meet their economic needs using the co-operative model. Sometimes there’s a need or an idea that takes root, and the Conseil is approached for advice. Here's an interesting project that is underway in the Cheticamp area.

Cooperative transport – The idea of a community transportation co-op for the Cheticamp area began in 2008. The Conseil has been working with a group of volunteers, composed of personalities from various fields related to the needs of the population of Cheticamp, to consider the community interest in such a project. This working group met several times and Transportation Co-operative was incorporated in spring 2010.

The co-operative was almost ready to launch its operations when a new taxi service began in the region in August 2010. The co-operative did launch its operations in the fall of 2011.
